I will post some more photos later, as I’ve got a lot to go through. I also want to try getting a video shot this week. A bit less comedy, more editorial. I know my YouTube account has sort of strayed from “the show” and sketch comedy…but sketches are next on my plate. First, I’ve been meaning to do a show where I just talk about things I like. Specifically videogames. I really like videogames.

Anyway, I’ve posted a new Talkin’ ‘Bout Cars! A bit different, but I’m trying to make it work. Give it a watching if you’ve got a moment.

Oh. I’m also going to be that guy and point out I’ve topped out at 487 Twitter followers. I’ve had Twitter forever but never really made an effort to “make it a thing” but if you’ve got one and aren’t already…follow me. I like round numbers is all. I swear. @razmig.

On an awesome note I’ve been playing some videogames lately and though I missed the release of Fez given my lack of Xbox, I’ve been trying to make up for it. I’ve been playing Mutant Mudds for the 3DS by Renegade Kid. I plan on sharing a review about it, but not until I spend some more time with it. It’s been out since January 2012 and I just picked it up last week, so I’m behind on the times. Either way, this retro-throwback platformer has been both difficult and fun…but there’s more to come on that.

Here is what happened: I got to a crosswalk and waited a moment as a couple cars drove by, none acknowledged my existence. I admit, I was a bit impatient and figured if I stepped off the curb they would yield…so I did. The first car stopped, I proceeded to cross, though none of the cars in the second lane were stopping. Here I am clearly standing in the middle of the crosswalk and both lanes begin moving again. I decided I’d push on and make it to the other side of the street. After exiting the crosswalk and continuing with my day a police officer yells “Hey, I want to have a word with you” and as expected, EVERY CAR YIELDED TO HIM as he marches across the street to meet me.

He then proceeds to speak to me like I’m 13 years old, going on about how pedestrians have the right of way but “that doesn’t matter”. He explained that cars don’t need to stop unless I’m 50% through the crosswalk…which isn’t entirely true, and how I should be happy he can tell me this here (very loudly in front of everyone) instead of the back of an ambulance on the way to the hospital. I just kind of nodded because it felt more like this officer wanted to teach me a lesson and flex his authority than actually you know…do his job and pull over any of the vehicles that broke the law as I tried to legally cross a street.

I unfortunately didn’t get his name, but since he seems to have it mixed up I hope he finds this so he can understand why he’s doing it wrong:

Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 89: Section 11: 

Section 11. When traffic control signals are not in place or not in operation the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right of way, slowing down or stopping if need be so to yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within a crosswalk marked in accordance with standards established by the department of highways if the pedestrian is on that half of the traveled part of the way on which the vehicle is traveling or if the pedestrian approaches from the opposite half of the traveled part of the way to within 10 feet of that half of the traveled part of the way on which said vehicle is traveling.

No driver of a vehicle shall pass any other vehicle which has stopped at a marked crosswalk to permit a pedestrian to cross, nor shall any such operator enter a marked crosswalk while a pedestrian is crossing or until there is a sufficient space beyond the crosswalk to accommodate the vehicle he is operating, notwithstanding that a traffic control signal may indicate that vehicles may proceed.

So the question here is, was I being a jerk for crossing the street and forcing vehicles to yield to my right of way, or are the drivers who didn’t bother obeying a simple law and yielding for 5 seconds being jerks? I guess we’ll never know, so let’s just say this Cambridge Police Officer is jerk and call it a day.

Anyway, I’m currently doing some math and putting together what could potentially be a new web series! This series would be nothing like my others, as it’d be more “unscripted review-y” and less “original sketch comedy-y” but we’ll see how it goes. I produced an episode a good 7 months ago but I wasn’t happy with it. I’ve since decided instead of being stupid and sitting on what could eventually grow into a solid series, I should just work with what I’ve got and…you know…post it so it can actually grow.

With that said, I’m hoping to have some videos up within the coming month. I did post a rap video called I Need a Job, which has now hit about 10k in views…way more than I anticipated.

I also attended Harmontown yesterday. It was spectacular and I highly recommend it. That about wraps it up for me. See you in like a month, since I suck at posting.

Nominate razmig for a social media award in the Shorty Awards

So I was thinking about making a best of 2011 post, but then I realized how unoriginal that would be, so instead I’ve decided to post a few things that I enjoyed this year.

I obviously didn’t listen to every album that was released this year, but out of the few I did enjoy I’d say the following stood out: Bon Iver – Self Titled, Slow Runner – Damage Points, and Naive Thieves – Le Sheik Rhat EP. Though the record I’ve listened to the most would be The Color Spectrum by The Dear Hunter. This 32 song release covers every mood and feeling I’ve ever felt, from happy (Yellow), to mellow (Blue), to completely pissed off (Black).

I watched a lot of TV this year, between Jon Benjamin Has a Van, Portlandia, and the countless reality shows (Pawn Stars, Tanked, etc), I have to say NBC’s Community has continued the path of becoming a great show. Though there are rumors afloat that NBC may pull the plug but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I’ve been a bit out of it this year as far as videogames go as I’ve been playing a lot of older titles. Though I’ve genuinely enjoyed several releases this year including Mario Kart 7 (3DS), Mortal Kombat (PS3), and Pushmo (3DS). Also with the release of Super Mario Land 3D, a long with all of the ambassador titles, the 3DS went from being my most regrettable purchase of 2011, to being my favorite purchase of 2011.

Drive caught me by surprise as being one of my favorite films of 2011. The soundtrack, the style, the general bad-assery, I enjoyed a lot about this flick. I also enjoyed 50/50, The Muppet Movie, Thor, and of course Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

So that about sums up my list of things I liked in 2011, I covered music, tv, videogames, and movies. Though I can’t end this post without mentioning that for me, 2011 was the year of Chocolate Chip Cookies, Big Gulps, and of course Slim Jims.

Miss ya big guy. So I say let’s snap into 2012!
